London is a vibrant city with a wide variety of sports and activities for people to enjoy. From Olympic and Paralympic Games to cricket, rugby, rowing, and tennis, there is something for everyone. Football is the most popular sport in London, with the Essex County Cricket Club and Kent County Cricket Club playing regularly in the city. Rugby union is also well-established in London, with four of the twelve clubs in the Aviva Premiership having origins in the city.

Amateur and grassroots rugby league also has a strong presence in London, with teams such as the Greenwich Admirals, Elmbridge Rugby League Club, and London Chargers playing in the Rugby League Conference. Paddling facilities are excellent throughout London, including the modern London Regatta Centre at the Royal Albert Dock. Gaelic football and inter-county hurling teams also compete in the Irish Senior Football Championship or Irish Senior Hurling Championship. London Camanachd is one of the few teams outside of Scotland that competes in the Camanachd Association competitions and English Brilliant Association competitions.

Other popular sports include netball, field hockey, basketball, baseball (the Croydon Pirates are champions), bowling, snooker, tennis, swimming, car racing at Brands Hatch, golf, darts, rackets, croquet, squash, horse racing (Epsom and elsewhere), boxing, wrestling, archery and roller hockey represented by the London Rink Hockey Club. The Crystal Palace National Sports Centre houses an athletic track and is often used for national meetings. Hackney Marshes is home to many amateur teams and reportedly has the largest collection of football fields in the world.

Every April since 1981, London has hosted one of the largest mass participation marathons in the world - the London Marathon. London is a great place to explore different sports and activities.
